Phalaenopsis 'Philadelphia' is a timeless and elegant orchid hybrid created by crossing two remarkable species: Phalaenopsis stuartiana and Phalaenopsis schilleriana. This primary hybrid brings together the best of both parents, resulting in a beautifully balanced plant that is as attractive in leaf as it is in flower.

Its blooms range in soft pink to lavender shades, often with delicate spotting or a gentle halo, and are mildly fragrant. Flower sprays can be generous and long-lasting, making this orchid a true highlight in any collection, especially during its blooming period.

The foliage is another standout feature. Inherited from Phalaenopsis schilleriana, the leaves are beautifully marbled or mottled in silvery patterns, giving the plant year-round ornamental value even when not in bloom.

Phalaenopsis 'Philadelphia' thrives in bright but indirect light, with warm temperatures, high humidity, and good air circulation. Like most Phalaenopsis orchids, it prefers to be watered when the potting medium is nearly dry, avoiding soggy conditions. A well-drained orchid substrate, like the one used at TOMs FLOWer CLUB, is ideal for healthy root development.

All plants available in spring 2025 have been freshly repotted into TOMs FLOWer CLUB’s self-mixed, high-quality orchid substrate before the start of the blooming season. The next repotting will not be needed for another 3 to 4 years, making these orchids especially low-maintenance and well-prepared for healthy growth.

Phalaenopsis 'Philadelphia' has a long-standing reputation among collectors and is considered a true gem due to its heritage and visual appeal. It’s not something commonly found in standard nurseries, making it a special addition for orchid enthusiasts looking for something refined and unique.
