Discover the fascinating orange-red-flowering miniature orchid from the rainforests of Venezuela and Colombia - Maxillaria Sophronitis! Mostly growing as an epiphyte on trees in dense humid forests. Its unique flowers, which come in dark orange or orange-red are extremely durable and can bloom throughout the year.
Caring for this orchid is straightforward. A well-draining, moisture-retaining substrate is ideal. Mineral substrate such as a mixture of lava, pumice, and akadama is excellent and significantly reduces maintenance. This natural form blooms regularly and brings much joy to your orchid collection!
Offered as a fully grown plant / side shoot with aerial roots - with 1-2plant heads on the stem, from the division of my own mother plant (this is not for sale in itself) from the orchid collection; not over-fertilised, therefore robust & healthy (100% organic quality over quantity!), no sprays/glossing agents for the leaves; also suitable for terrariums with animals; not hardy, also suitable for light/semi-shady locations (please avoid direct sunlight), the plant should be potted in a well-drained orchid substrate on receipt; please spray regularly with (rain)water; have fun with your new red-flowering orchid beauty - Maxillaria Sophronitis!
