Tenerife - Santa Cruz: Palmetum of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Palmetum of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a botanical garden located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. The garden is focused on the conservation and display of palm trees from around the world. It was opened in 2014 and covers an area of 12 hectares, making it one of the largest palm gardens in Europe.

The Palmetum is built on the site of a former landfill and is situated on a hillside overlooking the city and the Atlantic Ocean. It features a series of terraces that were carved into the hillside to create a suitable environment for the cultivation of palms. The garden is organized into different sections based on the origin and characteristics of the palm species, including the Canary Islands, Madagascar, America, Asia, and Oceania.

The garden features a range of facilities for visitors, including walking trails, viewpoints, and an exhibition center. The center provides information on the history and ecology of the garden, as well as the cultural and economic importance of palms in the Canary Islands.
