Crassula Tenelli - Silver Crassula | Elegant Silver Foliage for the Discerning Succulent Collector

Crassula tenelli is a charming and often overlooked succulent species valued for its refined growth habit and beautiful silvery-grey fleshy foliage. Unlike many larger Crassula species grown primarily for size, Crassula tenelli attracts attention through its delicate structure, subtle colours, and understated elegance.

This offering consists of beautifully established head cuttings from my own propagation at TOMs FLOWer CLUB. The plants have been grown slowly and naturally in a self-mixed, permeable organic substrate, allowing them to develop strong root systems and excellent long-term vigour. As with all plants cultivated at TOMs FLOWer CLUB, quality comes before quantity.

For collectors looking for something beyond the commonly available Jade Plant types, Crassula tenelli offers a distinctive appearance that combines compact growth with attractive silver foliage and exceptional suitability for container cultivation.

Collector Note

Crassula tenelli is appreciated by succulent enthusiasts for its elegant foliage and refined growth habit. While many Crassula species are selected for dramatic size or unusual forms, this species stands out through its subtle beauty and balanced proportions.

Collectors often seek Crassula tenelli because it remains relatively uncommon in mainstream horticulture. Its attractive silver leaves create a striking contrast among green succulents and make it particularly appealing in mixed collections.

As the plant matures, it develops increasing character while maintaining a manageable size, making it an excellent choice for collectors with limited growing space.

Care

Light:
Provide a bright location with several hours of direct sunlight. A sunny windowsill is ideal.

Watering:
Water thoroughly during active growth, then allow the substrate to dry before watering again. During the winter growth pause, reduce watering significantly.

Humidity:
Normal household humidity is perfectly suitable.

Temperature:
Prefers warm conditions during the growing season. Not frost hardy and should be protected from temperatures below approximately 5°C.

Substrate:
Requires a highly permeable, well-drained substrate. The plant is currently established in a carefully prepared self-mixed organic succulent substrate.

Maintenance:
Minimal maintenance required. Repotting is typically unnecessary for approximately 1–2 years.

Additional cultivation tips:
Avoid waterlogging at all times. Crassula tenelli performs best when grown slightly on the dry side. Good air circulation and bright light help maintain compact growth and healthy foliage colouration.

Cultivated with Care at TOMs FLOWer CLUB

This Crassula tenelli has been propagated and cultivated at TOMs FLOWer CLUB using a philosophy focused on long-term plant health rather than rapid production.

The plant originates from own propagation and has been grown slowly to encourage strong root development and robust growth. It has not been pushed with excessive fertiliser, resulting in a healthier and more resilient specimen.

The plant is established in a self-mixed permeable organic substrate developed specifically to support healthy root systems and excellent drainage. This approach reflects our commitment to organic cultivation, quality before quantity, and sustainable plant production.
