Euphorbia Tirucalli
Euphorbia Tirucalli - also known as the "pencil plant"; originally a succulent native to South and East Africa. The eponymous branches of the plant are pencil-like and grow upwards in a candelabra shape. Young twigs are cylindrical, smooth and green, but can turn grey and rough like tree bark with age. The leaves are small and slender and fall off quickly.
Potted in a well-drained self-mixed organic substrate; 2 very nicely established cuttings/plants in one pot (these can of course also be planted individually if desired); repotting only desired in 1-2years, grown slowly without fertiliser from own cuttings therefore robust & top healthy (100% organic quality before quantity! ); not hardy, with time it will become really bushy / stem forming, the plant is intended for a bright/sunny location (avoid waterlogging!), Enjoy your new Euphorbia Tirucalli!
Did you know?
The botanical name Euphorbia is derived from Euphorbos, the Greek physician from the 1st century AD. In 1753, the botanist and taxonomist Carl Linnaeus gave the entire genus the name Euphorbia in honour of this doctor.
And yes, that's right, euphorbias are not cacti, even though many of them look pretty much like a cactus.
