Gunnera Manicata
Gunnera Manicata - also called "giant rhubarb"; with massive, rhubarb-shaped, toothed and furrowed leaves and its thick, spiny stems; for shady gardens and swampy places. Its botanical epithet "manicata" means "with long sleeves" for obvious reasons. In midsummer, the Gunnera is very tall and wide (2-3m is no exception), in winter it almost disappears. Native to southern Brazil, the Gunnera prefers shade or filtered sun and does not like its roots to dry out.
Offered is a plant grown outdoors from the lateral seedlings (i.e. no greenhouse culture!); already hardened off with winter protection (dry autumn leaves); potted in self-mixed permeable organic substrate; not overfertilised therefore top healthy and robust (100% organic quality before quantity!); for planting out in the garden (it is not a houseplant!); with time it will become quite vigorous (according to pictures of my mother plants); it is winter-hardy with winter protection; enjoy your new classic green unique beauty - Gunnera Manicata!
