VALENTINE'S DAY - 14th February
Who was Saint Valentine?
Saint Valentine - Valentine's Day according to tradition, Valentine was a poor priest who lived in Rome in the 3rd century under the Emperor Claudius II, who was not friendly to Christians. According to the legend, he gave flowers from his garden to the newly married couples. In addition, the marriages that were contracted through him are said to have always been blessed with good fortune. According to tradition, he also healed a blind girl.
Valentine also married soldiers who, according to imperial orders, had to remain unmarried, according to Christian ceremonial. This was probably the reason why Valentine was beheaded in Rome on 14th February 269 on the orders of Emperor Claudius II and thus became a martyr. St. Valentine is considered the patron saint of lovers, engaged couples and beekeepers.
