Variegated plants are those that have leaves or other plant parts with multiple colors or patterns, typically featuring a combination of green and white, yellow, or pink. The variegated pattern can take many forms, including stripes, blotches, speckles, and mottled patterns.

Variegation occurs due to a genetic mutation that affects chlorophyll production in some of the plant cells. This mutation can cause those cells to produce less or no chlorophyll, resulting in white or lighter-colored areas on the plant. The variegated pattern can appear on any part of the plant, including the leaves, stems, and flowers.
