Brachychiton Acerifolius - Illawarra Flame Tree
Seed grown Brachychiton acerifolius / "Illawarra Flame Tree", in the 30cm trunk height - tapered; about 80-90cm tall from the pot edge; the Illawarra Flame Tree is a native tree of Australia. It has the most beautiful scarlet flowers which appear in late spring after the tree has lost its leaves. The attractive leaves are lobed, green and glossy. This excellent shade tree is one of the most spectacular of all Australian native trees. It can be cultivated as a pot plant or as a garden bonsai. as a garden bonsai; needs well-drained soil & a sunny location; very tolerant of dry conditions; needs to be protected from frost when young; in summer prefer to put it on the balcony (such a breath of fresh air is very good for the plant); in winter, the Glücksbaum should be kept a little cooler (around 15C); not hardy; prefer to keep too dry rather than too moist; collector's plant/tree; potted in a well-drained organic substrate; repotting not desired until 2022.
