VARIEGATED PLANTS
Variegated plants are those that have leaves or other plant parts with multiple colors or patterns, typically featuring a combination of green and white, yellow, or pink. The variegated pattern can take many forms, including stripes, blotches, speckles, and mottled patterns.
Variegation occurs due to a genetic mutation that affects chlorophyll production in some of the plant cells. This mutation can cause those cells to produce less or no chlorophyll, resulting in white or lighter-colored areas on the plant. The variegated pattern can appear on any part of the plant, including the leaves, stems, and flowers.
Variegated plants are popular among gardeners and plant collectors for their unique and striking appearance. They can be found in a wide range of plant species, including tropical and subtropical plants, as well as many ornamental and flowering plants.
