Eucalyptus Gunnii
Eucalyptus gunnii, also known as Tasmanian cider gum, an exotic shrub with aromatic scented foliage and essential oils. Ideal for sheltered locations and (fully) sunny spots, this plant is partially hardy and can withstand temperatures as low as -10°C without major frost damage. In a sheltered location, the Eucalyptus gunnii can even be planted outdoors, making it suitable for the garden as well as terraces and balconies.
Even though the Eucalyptus gunnii is also suitable for pots, it should not necessarily be cultivated as a "houseplant". The plant prefers full sun and requires little water. While the Eucalyptus gunnii grows into an imposing tree in its natural habitat, it tends to remain small in our gardens and develops into a stately large shrub with a height of around 4 metres. Nevertheless, it is extremely robust and grows by around 50 centimetres in height every year - with good care and in the right location.
For a bushy yet slender appearance, it is advisable to prune regularly in spring. The desired size and shape of the Eucalyptus gunnii can also be easily maintained with targeted pruning.
