Cannes: Jardin Exotique d’Èze

Jardin Exotique d’Èze – A Hidden Jewel of the French Riviera

High above the shimmering coastline of the French Riviera, nestled in the heart of the medieval village of Èze, lies one of the most spectacular gardens in southern France — the Jardin Exotique d’Èze. With its breathtaking views and exceptional plant collection, this clifftop botanical garden is a true gem, blending natural beauty, cultural history, and peaceful escape in one unforgettable place.

A Garden with a Story
The garden was created after World War II on the ruins of an ancient fortress. It was the vision of the local mayor, André Gianton, who partnered with botanist Jean Gastaud, founder of the famous Jardin Exotique in Monaco. Their goal was to transform the sun-drenched slopes of Èze into a space where exotic plants from around the world could thrive.

Since then, the garden has blossomed into an open-air museum of rare and resilient plant life, offering visitors a unique experience that is both educational and deeply calming.

A Living Collection of Global Flora
The Jardin Exotique is home to an impressive variety of succulents, cacti, and Mediterranean plants carefully curated from around the globe. As you explore its winding paths, you’ll find towering cactus species like Echinocactus and Cephalocereus
Beautiful agaves, aloes, and euphorbias; local plants such as olive trees, rosemary, and lavender.

A tranquil Zen garden complete with mist, subtropical plants, and quiet benches
Throughout the garden, you’ll also discover elegant sculptures by artist Jean-Philippe Richard, perfectly placed among the plants and rocks.

And above all, the garden offers some of the best panoramic views on the Riviera — stretching from the Estérel Mountains to Saint-Tropez, with the sparkling Mediterranean far below.

Why You Should Visit?
Whether you’re a plant lover, a photographer, a history enthusiast, or simply someone looking for a peaceful place with jaw-dropping views, the Jardin Exotique d’Èze is not to be missed. It’s more than a garden — it’s a unique experience that celebrates nature, culture, and the incredible beauty of the Côte d’Azur.
