Huernia Confusa
Huernia Confusa, native to South Africa; also known as "carrion flower"; grows low to the ground and produces grey-green shoots. The flowers of the carrion flower are strikingly red and yellow striped and have the usual sea urchin shape. In summer, this unusual succulent is a real eye-catcher with its large flowers; the exotic plant enjoys a location with plenty of light; the brighter, the better. It loves warmth and requires a well-drained and loose soil that is nevertheless rich in nutrients. A mixture of compost and sand or perlite is well suited for them; during the growth phase in summer, the plant should be watered moderately - the soil should be moist, but not too wet; if the plant is dormant in winter, it should not be watered during this time, or only very little.
The plant on offer comes from our own succulent collection; from our own propagation - division of the mother plant (see larger picture); fully established; becomes quite compact over time; potted in well-drained, self-mixed organic substrate; repotting only desired in 1-2 years, not over-fertilised, therefore robust & top healthy (100% organic quality before quantity! ), slow-growing, perhaps already flowering this year, not hardy, for a semi-shady - but still sufficiently bright/sunny location, please avoid waterlogging; enjoy your new Huernia Confusa!
