Jan Otava was born in Prag / Tschechoslowakia on 30 April 1950. He is the graphic artist and illustrator, studied at the graphic specialty under Prof. L. Čepelák at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (1970-1977). He works in free, applied and small graphic art. He prefers the etching and dry needle technique. His subject matter is usually nature, he analyses landscape and natural elements. Jan Otava is represented in the collections of the National Gallery in Prague, the Prague City Gallery, the Moravian Gallery in Brno, the Museum of Art in Olomouc and elsewhere in the world in private collections.
