Pachypodium saundersii is a succulent plant that belongs to the family "Apocynaceae". It is also known as the Madagascar Palm Cactus or Baobab Walking Rose and originates from Madagascar, an island off the coast of East Africa.

Pachypodium saundersii is a small to medium-sized tree that usually reaches a height of 1 to 4 metres, although it can grow higher under favourable conditions. The trunk is thick and succulent with a grey-brown to silver-grey bark covered with sharp thorns. The thorns are usually arranged in groups and can be up to 5 cm long.

The leaves of Pachypodium saundersii are imparipinnate and consist of several oval, succulent leaflets. The leaves are mostly green but can also have a bluish tinge. In winter, during the dormant period, the leaves may be temporarily shed.

Pachypodium saundersii produces showy, trumpet-shaped flowers about 3 to 5 cm in diameter. The flowers can vary from white to yellow to a bright orange and are often fragrant. They appear in clusters at the tips of the branches and usually flower in spring and summer.

The fruits of Pachypodium saundersii are elongated, woody capsules containing seeds. The seeds are flat and surrounded by a furry covering.

Pachypodium saundersii is known for its whimsical, tree-like habit with a thick, succulent trunk and characteristic thorns. It is a popular plant for succulent collections and is often grown as an ornamental in dry, warm regions with well-drained soil and plenty of sunlight. The care of Pachypodium saundersii requires little water, but it is important to avoid frost and cold temperatures as this can cause damage to the plant.
