Stapelia gigantea
Stapelia gigantea from own propagation of head cuttings; originating from Africa (where it is even partly considered an invasive plant); succulent; from own collection; with time it will become quite compact; potted in a well-drained, self-mixed organic substrate; repotting only desired in 2-3 years, not overfertilised, therefore robust & healthy (quality before quantity!). ), slow growing, surely already flowering in 2022, not hardy, for a semi-shade location, please no waterlogging; enjoy your new flowering Stapelia gigantea!
"Love stinks", or at least it does when Stapelia gigantea flowers. It bears beautiful, showy, red and yellow striped flowers with white fringes, the pattern of which you will lose yourself in. However, if you lean in to smell, you will be surprised to find a smell of rotting flesh. This is how the stapelia has evolved to attract its native pollinators, the flies! It likes to form clumps and flowers from spring to autumn, but it really gets going in summer, where each new growth bears one of its large flowers, which are sure to impress.
