Ferocactus Glaucescens
Ferocactus glaucescens - Blue Barrel Cactus
Ferocactus glaucescens is a timeless cactus classic, valued for its calm geometry and distinctive bluish-green epidermis. With sufficient light, its natural waxy coating intensifies, giving the plant its characteristic blue tone and a quietly sculptural presence.
This species thrives in very bright locations, from full sun to light partial shade. A well-drained, mineral substrate - sandy or rocky in structure - is essential to prevent waterlogging. During the growing season, water sparingly and always allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. In winter, watering should be reduced significantly, as the plant enters a natural resting phase.
Ferocactus glaucescens is slow-growing, drought-tolerant and long-lived, often forming attractive clumps over time. It is not frost-hardy and should be kept above 5 °C during the colder months.
Thanks to its clean, yellow spiny ribs and minimal care requirements, this cactus is equally appreciated by collectors and beginners. It brings structure, calm and natural elegance to bright interiors, conservatories or sheltered outdoor spaces in summer.
You receive the plant in the displayed size - approx. 20 cm in diameter.
