FICUS

Ficus is a genus of plants that includes around 800 species of trees, shrubs, and vines, many of which are grown as indoor houseplants. They are native to tropical and subtropical regions of the world, and are popular for their attractive foliage, ease of care, and ability to purify the air.

Ficus plants have a variety of leaf shapes and sizes, ranging from small, round leaves to large, glossy, oblong leaves. They are known for their ability to grow quickly, and can reach heights of up to 3-5m or more when grown indoors. Some popular species of Ficus for indoor cultivation include Ficus benjamina (Weeping Fig), Ficus elastica (Rubber Plant), and Ficus lyrata (Fiddle Leaf Fig).

Ficus plants prefer bright, indirect light and well-draining soil. They are tolerant of a wide range of temperatures, but prefer warmer temperatures between 15-24°C. Ficus plants should be watered regularly, but care should be taken not to overwater as this can lead to root rot. They can be propagated by stem cuttings or by air layering.

While Ficus plants are generally easy to care for, they can be sensitive to changes in environment and may drop leaves if exposed to drafts or sudden changes in temperature or humidity. Some species of Ficus, such as Ficus benjamina, can also be toxic to pets and humans if ingested, so care should be taken to keep them out of reach. Overall, Ficus plants are a popular choice for indoor gardeners due to their attractive foliage and ability to tolerate low light conditions.
