Philodendron ‘Painted Lady’ - Variegated Climbing Aroid with Pink Stems

A striking climbing aroid for collectors who appreciate unusual foliage and contrasting colours. Philodendron ‘Painted Lady’ is known for its bright chartreuse to yellow-green leaves, often marked with irregular green variegation, and its distinctive pink to reddish-pink stems. As the plant matures, the leaves can become larger and the climbing growth more pronounced, creating an increasingly impressive foliage plant.

This plant comes from the rejuvenation of the mother plant in my own collection at TOMs FLOWer CLUB. The offered head cutting is already well established and has developed roots in water in a glass. It will be freshly cut from the mother plant upon purchase, so you receive the growing tip rather than the entire mother plant.

I grow my plants in the conservatory without fertiliser, allowing them to develop at their own pace. Quality before quantity is the principle: no artificially accelerated growth, just individually cultivated plants with their own character. With time and suitable growing conditions, your Philodendron ‘Painted Lady’ can develop into a stronger, fuller climbing plant. If it eventually becomes too long, you can prune it back and use suitable stem sections for propagation.

Growing conditions

Light: Choose a bright to partially shaded position with plenty of indirect light. Protect the leaves from strong direct sunlight, which can scorch them and affect their colour.

Substrate: Once the cutting has developed a good root system, plant it into a loose, airy, well-drained organic aroid substrate. Avoid compact soil and waterlogging.

Watering: Keep the substrate lightly and evenly moist during active growth, but allow excess water to drain freely. Do not leave the roots standing in water once the plant has been potted into substrate.

Humidity: Philodendron ‘Painted Lady’ appreciates higher humidity. Regularly showering the foliage or gently misting the leaves can help keep them clean, particularly in a warm environment. Ensure sufficient air circulation and avoid leaving the foliage constantly wet.

Growth habit: This is a climbing plant. A moss pole or another suitable climbing support can help it develop stronger growth and larger leaves over time.

Please note that the cutting is supplied with its roots in water and should be transferred to substrate after arrival. Some adjustment is normal when a water-rooted cutting is moved into a potting medium; give it time to adapt and avoid overwatering during this transition.

You will receive the displayed Philodendron ‘Painted Lady’ head cutting, freshly cut from the mother plant upon purchase. The mother plant itself is not included.

A distinctive choice for aroid collectors and anyone who appreciates bright variegated foliage, pink stems and the satisfaction of growing a plant from an established cutting.
