Brunsvigia grandiflora is endemic to South Africa in the Drakensberg. This species grows scattered in moist grassland at an altitude of up to 2'200 metres above sea level; beautiful perennial bulbous plant up to 80 cm tall with 10-15 erect, wavy leaves. It forms spectacular round flower heads up to 40 cm in diameter with light to dark pink iridescent flowers 50-70 mm long. The leaves do not appear until late summer to early autumn in South Africa and flower at the same time. The bulb can reach 15 cm in diameter, is ovoid, mostly above ground.

From own collection; rarity; planted in self-mixed, well-drained organic substrate (repotting only desired in 1-2 years); not overfertilised, therefore robust & top healthy (organic quality before quantity!), slow growing, forms symmetrically arranged leaves which give the plant an amazing appearance; avoid waterlogging; water only when the soil is as good as dry; for a bright/sunny location; not hardy; overwinter protected in a bright and cooler room during the winter months, pink-red flower; enjoy your new Brunsvigia Grandiflora!
