Musa Basjoo
Hardy Garden Banana – Musa Basjoo
Now available at TOMs FLOWer CLUB – organically grown from our own propagation
Add an unmistakable tropical flair to your garden with Musa basjoo, the hardy garden banana admired for its bold, lush foliage and fast growth. Grown from our own propagation using 100% organic principles, these are no mass-produced plants but robust, well-rooted specimens, cultivated slowly and naturally for long-term success.
Musa basjoo is ideal for gardens, terraces or patios, and although its fruit is not edible, its large, vibrant green leaves and architectural form create an immediate jungle-like atmosphere. In warm months, it grows vigorously, reaching heights of up to 2–3 meters. While the above-ground parts may die back in frost, the rootstock can survive temperatures down to around –10°C, especially with winter protection such as mulch or fleece. In spring, it resprouts quickly and grows into an impressive focal point once again.
Our Musa basjoo is delivered well established, approximately 40–70 cm tall including the pot, grown in our own self-mixed, well-drained organic substrate. It thrives best in full sun with regular watering and feeding during the active growing season. Repotting is only necessary every 1–2 years, making it an easy-care plant even for beginners.
Choose Musa basjoo from TOMs FLOWer CLUB and bring exotic structure, movement, and a touch of subtropical drama to your outdoor space – naturally grown and beautifully wild.
