Epiphyllum Chrysocardium
Epiphyllum chrysocardium is a tropical leaf cactus from southern Mexico with large, flat and broadly lobed shoots and huge white flowers that can grow up to 40 cm in size; it grows epiphytically in its natural habitat - mainly on and in trees in the humid mountain forests at altitudes of 1600 to 1800 m above sea level. The climate there is humid and mild, but the nights can occasionally be cold.
The broad, flat shoots can reach a length of up to 2 metres. The gigantic flowers only open for a short time, often only for a day or a night.
Even though it is a cactus, longer dry periods should be avoided and the Epiphyllum Chrysocardium should be grown more like a "tropical plant".
Epiphyllum Chrysocardium is offered as a fully established plant; grown organically slowly in the conservatory and outdoors between March and October, planted in a well-drained, self-mixed "orchid" substrate (the plant will not need to be repotted for the next 2-3 years), not over-fertilised, therefore robust and top healthy (100% organic quality over quantity!); not hardy, easy to care for, light to semi-shady, showering the leaves once a month is good for the plant. Have fun with your new Epiphyllum Chrysocardium - tropical cactus!
