Orbea Variegata - also known as Stapelia Variegata; with its beautiful star-like flower; care requires special attention as it needs a well-drained soil, a shallow flower pot and careful watering.

These plants occur naturally in South and East Africa. They are typical stemless succulents, growing only about 5-6 cm high and forming dense clumps. An interesting fact is that the flowers of these plants have an unpleasant carrion smell that attracts flies. The flies are fooled when they try to pollinate the flower and in the process pollinate the flower.

The cultivation of these plants requires special attention as they are sensitive to prolonged soil moisture, which can lead to root rot and even loss of the plant. It is therefore important to grow these plants in shallower and wider containers so that the soil can dry out well and the plants can grow healthily. However, if these conditions are adhered to, they are easy to care for and enjoy flowering.
