Aloe Aculeata – Collector's Aloe with Red Spines
Aloe aculeata is a particularly attractive Aloe from southern Africa and a fascinating plant for collectors of unusual succulents.
The species is easily recognised by its blue-green to grey-green leaves covered with prominent reddish-brown teeth and prickles. The strongly armed foliage gives this Aloe a very distinctive, almost wild appearance.
The plant offered here comes from my own collection and has been cultivated with moderate fertilisation rather than being forced into rapid growth.

Care
Aloe aculeata loves sun and plenty of light. During summer, it can be placed outdoors on a sunny balcony, terrace or in a sheltered garden position, provided there is no danger of frost.
Water thoroughly during the growing season, but allow the substrate to dry well between waterings. Avoid waterlogging.
During winter, keep the plant bright, frost-free and considerably drier.
A very permeable, well-draining substrate is essential.
