Neoregelia pauciflora - the Miniature Jewel of the Bromeliad World

Discover the tropical charm of Neoregelia pauciflora, a compact and captivating bromeliad prized for its vivid rosette form and stunning foliage. This small but striking epiphyte adds a touch of exotic artistry to any bright indoor setting, terrarium, or plant collection — a living sculpture of nature’s perfection.

Plant Profile:

  • Botanical name: Neoregelia pauciflora

  • Origin: Brazil – tropical rainforests

  • Growth habit: Small, compact rosette (up to 15 cm across) with glossy, leathery leaves often flushed in pink, red, or bronze hues when grown in good light.

  • Flower: Tiny, delicate, pale-lavender blooms appear in the central cup, surrounded by colourful leaf bases.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Bright, filtered light; stronger light enhances compact growth and rich leaf colour.

  • Water: Keep the central cup filled with fresh water, and flush regularly to prevent stagnation.

  • Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity but adapts well to normal indoor conditions.

  • Media: Use a free-draining bromeliad mix or mount on bark with sphagnum moss.

  • Fertiliser: Feed very lightly with diluted liquid fertiliser during active growth — apply directly to the cup or roots.

  • Temperature: Prefers 15–28 °C; protect from frost and cold drafts.

  • Propagation: Remove and pot offsets once they reach one-third to half the size of the parent plant.
