Cordyline ‘Paso Doble Pink’ – Pink and Purple Cordyline | Colourful Architectural Foliage Plant
Cordyline ‘Paso Doble’, also known as Cordyline australis ‘Paso Doble’, is a striking ornamental foliage plant prized for its upright, narrow leaves in rich shades of pink, deep red and purple. The vivid pink margins contrast beautifully with the darker foliage, creating an eye-catching, architectural appearance.
Part of the appeal of this colourful Cordyline is its compact, bushy growth habit, which makes it particularly suitable for decorative pots, bright patios, balconies and exotic-style plant displays. With time and suitable growing conditions, mature plants may produce fragrant, creamy-white flowers.
At TOMs FLOWer CLUB, we appreciate plants with distinctive character and natural beauty. Our philosophy is simple: quality before quantity.
Care and Growing Conditions
Light: A bright position with plenty of light helps maintain the intense pink and purple foliage colours. Full sun or light partial shade is suitable, provided the plant is gradually acclimatised to stronger sunlight.
Watering: Water when needed during active growth, allowing excess water to drain away. Avoid prolonged waterlogging, while preventing the root ball from drying out completely for extended periods.
Substrate: Use a well-draining growing medium. Good drainage is particularly important for plants grown in containers.
Outdoor growing: Cordyline ‘Paso Doble’ can make a colourful feature on a sunny balcony, terrace or in a sheltered garden during the warmer months.
Winter care: Although some established plants may tolerate brief, light frost under favourable conditions, hardiness depends on climate, drainage and plant maturity. In Switzerland, container-grown plants are best protected from severe frost and cold, wet winter conditions.
Growth habit: This cultivar is valued for its dense, upright foliage and vivid colours. It is suitable for ornamental containers and for adding a tropical-inspired accent to plant collections.
