Dicksonia Antartica / tree fern - double stem
Dicksonia Antartica is a prehistoric tree fern; forms leaves on a stem that grows up to 10 metres high in its natural habitat; native to Australia and New Zealand, it is one of the oldest plants in the world; best cultivated in partial shade to full shade in moist soil; grown 100% organically from a small plant in the conservatory; offered as a ‘double stem/plant’ from our own botanical collection; grows very well and naturally, potted in well-drained, self-mixed organic substrate; repotting in a larger pot only after 2-3 years would be desirable (so that the plant can develop fully), not overfertilised, therefore robust and healthy (100% organic quality before quantity!), no heavily fertilised greenhouse culture!; not hardy, with time it becomes quite vigorous and stem-forming, from spring to late autumn (without frost days) the plant likes to be outside in the fresh air and in the rain; otherwise a weekly showering of the leaves (with rainwater) is very good for the plant; have fun with your new Dicksonia Antartica!
