Piper auritum also known as "Hoja Santa" or "Mexican leaf pepper"; originating from southern Mexico (called "Hinojo Salalero" - "holy leaf"); rarity; exudes an aroma of nutmeg, star anise, apricot and the pepper; can grow up to 3-5m high under optimal conditions; leaves about 30cm in diameter; not hardy; cutting back is recommended to achieve the compact shape; the leaf is used in the kitchen for wrapping fish/meat, or raw in salads. raw in salads.

Organically grown from a stem cutting; from untreated mother plant, very well grown, planted in self-mixed permeable organic substrate (repotting only desired after 1-2years); plant is for a light & warm location.
