Sedum morganianum – Burro’s Tail / Donkey’s Tail | Trailing Succulent

Sedum morganianum, commonly known as Burro’s Tail or Donkey’s Tail, is a distinctive trailing succulent native to southern Mexico. Its long, cascading stems are densely covered with fleshy, blue-green leaves coated in a delicate, silvery bloom. In summer, mature plants may produce clusters of pink to reddish flowers at the stem tips.

This attractive succulent is ideal for hanging planters, elevated shelves and sunny indoor plant displays, where its pendant stems can develop into a striking living cascade.

At TOMs FLOWer CLUB, we value healthy roots, natural growth and quality before quantity. The offered plant is a well-established plant family consisting of several rooted cuttings growing together in one pot, creating a fuller and more developed specimen.

Care and Growing Conditions

Light: Provide a bright location with plenty of indirect light. Gentle morning or evening sun is usually suitable, but introduce the plant to stronger sunlight gradually and protect it from intense midday sun.

Watering: Allow the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess water drain away. During the cooler winter period, reduce watering considerably, especially when growth slows.

Substrate: Use a very well-draining cactus and succulent mix. A pot with drainage holes is essential, as prolonged moisture around the roots can cause root rot.

Temperature: Protect from frost. This succulent is best grown indoors in climates with cold winters.

Propagation: Sedum morganianum can be propagated from healthy leaves or stem cuttings. Handle the stems carefully, as the fleshy leaves detach easily.
