Trachycarpus Fortunei
Chinese Hemp Palm (Trachycarpus fortunei) – Hardy Outdoor Palm | Premium Quality
Bring a touch of Mediterranean flair to your garden or terrace with the elegant Trachycarpus fortunei, also known as the Chinese hemp palm or “Ticino palm”. This robust and cold-resistant palm is one of the most reliable species for Central European climates.
This specimen has been carefully cultivated over several years in a species-appropriate manner, grown from a young plant with patience and expertise. Unlike mass-produced greenhouse or plantation palms, it has been naturally hardened outdoors at approximately 450 metres above sea level, resulting in exceptional resilience and strength.
The plant is not over-fertilised and follows a strict organic philosophy: quality before quantity. This ensures a healthy, sturdy structure and long-term vitality.
Plant details:
- Total height: approx. 80-90 cm (including pot)
- Trunk thickness: approx. 6-8 cm
- Potted in a plastic nursery pot
- Slow-growing and well established
Trachycarpus fortunei is known for its excellent frost tolerance. When planted in a sheltered location (e.g. near a house wall), it is hardy down to approximately -15°C. The palm has already been overwintered outdoors under these conditions, making it particularly well adapted.
Planting in the garden is recommended in spring, ideally no later than the end of July, allowing sufficient time for root establishment before winter.
Perfect for gardens, terraces, or as an exotic focal point, this palm adds structure and a timeless, southern-European atmosphere to any outdoor space.
You will receive the exact plant shown, carefully prepared for collection or shipping.
Enjoy your new Trachycarpus fortunei – a durable and characterful palm for years to come.
